Heavy rainfall caused tragic flash flooding across northeastern Arizona and northwestern New Mexico—killing three people, damaging homes, and washing out roads. Many have been forced to evacuate.
Crisis-trained chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) will arrive in the area on Sept. 26, to minister in these struggling communities.
“We are heartbroken to hear about the loss of life in the Navajo Nation following the flooding that took place there last week,” said Josh-Holland, vice president of BG-RRT Global. “As residents mourn these losses and begin the process of clean up and recovery, our chaplains will be there to come alongside them and remind them that God is still there, even in these dark and trying days.”
Chaplains will care for the spiritual and emotional needs of those who are grieving. As they comfort and pray with residents who have lost so much, chaplains will remind them that “the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart” (Psalm 34:18, NKJV).
