In 1983, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) organized the first International Conference for Itinerant Evangelists in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In the crowd were 4,000 traveling evangelists from 133 countries who were there to study the message, life, and ministry of Mr. Graham.
“These itinerant evangelists are the most important ambassadors and messengers on earth,” Mr. Graham said at the conference. “They are a mighty army of proclaimers, energized by the power of the Spirit, spreading out across the world with a renewed vision to reach their own people for Christ.”
From the platform, Mr. Graham also repeated the same question he was often asked during press conferences: “When you die, who’s going to take your place?”
In just over 1 minute, he offered a response that—40 years later—is coming true in ways unimaginable at the time.
