Summer Interns See the Gospel Woven Through Every Job

This May, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) welcomed 21 interns across nine departments. As they set to work, they quickly discovered that there was one thing that connected every task and project—the transformative power of the Good News.

Kristy Lowe, who served in Video Ministry Services, gained skills in editing, colour grading, and field production, but it wasn’t just that expertise that impacted her.

“More importantly, I have grown in my understanding of what it means to be a Christ-centered editor and filmmaker,” Lowe said. “At BGEA, the Gospel is at the heart of every story, project, and task we undertake, and I hope to carry that same perspective into my work for the rest of my career.”

Here are just a few of the things God has taught these interns over the past 10 weeks.

Reece Mininger recorded video interviews during the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team’s deployment to tornado-torn Illinois. “The one thing that will stick with me after BGEA and continue into my work for years to come … is that it should always be ‘ministry over media.’”
Claire Pschigoda, a photography intern, saw this principle first hand on the same deployment. “While [chaplains prayed] with homeowners, the media team was careful to [keep their distance] so that we wouldn’t get in the way of someone’s faith walk.”
“Not only have I gained professional experience throughout my time here—I have grown closer to the Lord as well,” said Emma Ogren, a Communications intern. Here she interviews a woman for a web article about a Billy Graham Library event.
“I enjoy being able to tackle different tasks,” said Kaila Rogers, who interned in the Billy Graham Archive and Research Centre. “I was sitting and reading materials at my desk to write a blog post, and when … my brain just needed a break, I went into the paper storage and did my other task of taking pictures and measuring items.”
“One of the biggest things I learned during my internship was how to be flexible and adapt to challenges as they arise,” said Shekina Uchegbulem (foreground), who served behind the scenes in IT. “I also learned the importance of taking initiative by conducting independent research. … These experiences helped me become a more confident problem solver.”

Interns are seeing the big ways God is working, especially in Internet Evangelism, where thousands of people are finding new life in Jesus through the web. Watching this up close impacted Hope Clark (above, right), who helped with Spanish language materials.

“A love for sharing the Gospel is the evident motivation behind the different departments at BGEA,” she said. “As I approach present and future challenges, I do so with this same joy for making Christ known.”

Applications open in August for our summer 2027 internships.

“I have learned that no matter where I am in my faith, God always has something new to teach me in every season of life,” said Juan Escobar, who helped distribute materials for Hispanic Ministries.
As part of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, Rebekah Owens learned “the power of consistent prayer and how it can transform the way we view Christ.” She even got to use that training during a chaplain deployment to Illinois.
