Pray For Our Leaders

At an unstable and tense time in UK politics, there is a great need to pray for the leaders of our nation.

It was announced yesterday (July 23) that Boris Johnson will be taking over from Theresa May as the next UK prime minster and Conservative party leader. The current political shift has stirred division and disunion amongst the British public, so let’s pray during this time, just as the word of God commands us to, “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

Pray also that our new government leader will respect and uphold Christian values, especially through times when they will be making important decisions on behalf of our country.

Pray For Our Leaders-Colour

Will praying for our leaders do any good? Billy Graham answers.

“God also intervenes in human affairs — even when we don’t realise it. The Bible says, “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear” (Isaiah 59:1). He responds as well to the prayers of His people — which is why the Bible commands us to pray for our leaders (see 1 Timothy 2:1-4). How much worse would our world be if people didn’t pray?”
