Not Just a Number—Transformation: The Impact of the Gospel in the UK

Across the United Kingdom, families are embracing the Gospel and telling others about Jesus Christ. During the God Loves You Tour in London in 2023 (above), people of all ages and backgrounds came together to hear Franklin Graham share a message of hope.

In just over three years, more than 3,000 people have responded to the Gospel through evangelistic outreaches called the God Loves You Tour across the United Kingdom. These events—involving Franklin Graham and partnerships with local churches—have proclaimed the Good News to over 45,600 people in six cities.

Thousands of churches have united for the sake of Christ, and hundreds of buses have carried crowds to arenas filled with worship, prayer, and truth—and God is at work drawing many people to Himself.

In cities like London, England; Cardiff, Wales; and Glasgow, Scotland, local churches are witnessing this movement first hand. Churches are growing, families are being restored, young believers are being discipled, and pastors are finding fresh strength and unity in the call to share Christ.

“We’ve seen an atmosphere shift inside the church; people are hungrier than ever,” said Josh Green, founder of a U.K. youth ministry. “We’ve also seen an appetite change outside the Church; people are searching for something real, authentic and supernatural. They’re hungry for truth. And we know that His name is Jesus,” he wrote in Premier Christianity, the U.K.’s leading Christian magazine.

Many responded to the Gospel during the God Loves You Tour in London in 2022. Franklin Graham encouraged them to read the Bible and attend a local church to grow in their faith.

‘That’s Not Just a Number; That’s Transformation’

For Pastor Dave Brackenridge of Home Church in Glasgow, the impact of partnering in ministry with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) has been tangible and transformative.

“We planted our Glasgow [church] in a very difficult part of the city,” he explained, “and the God Loves You Tour helped give us momentum. One of the first families to ever walk through our doors came because they responded [to the Gospel] at the tour. That was a huge encouragement to our team.”

Since that time, his church has seen remarkable growth.

“We’ve done around 50 baptisms a year since we launched,” he said. “That family from the God Loves You Tour—all three of them were baptised together. That’s not just a number; that’s transformation.”

With his church growing, Brackenridge has dedicated more time for in-depth discipleship, with the intention of equipping many in his congregation to grow and get involved. “As more people come in, we’re having to raise up more leaders, disciple more intentionally. We’re seeing people step up to serve who were once on the side lines. It’s pushing us all deeper,” Brackenridge said.

Across the U.K., stories like this are emerging from churches who have partnered with BGEA in ministry. Debbie Ford, an administrator at Elim Pentecostal Church in London, shared the story of a man named David who she brought to the God Loves You Tour in London two years ago. David ended up surrendering his life to Christ that day.

“David [worshipped] for the first time in his life at that event,” she recalled. “He was usually reserved and struggling. Not long after, he passed away. But I know he was saved. That day changed his eternity.”

‘Because of That, Our Whole Family Came to Christ’

While thousands of people have physically stepped forward to make a decision for Christ at the God Loves You Tour, the impact of one single decision is immeasurable.

Lorraine Swan of Glasgow shared the impact of the God Loves You Tour on several of her family members.

Lorraine Swan from Home Church in Glasgow knows this well. “Even though I didn’t attend the tour myself, my mum did. Because of that, our whole family found Jesus,” Swan said. “My son, my aunt, my mum, and I were all baptised. Then my sister and nieces came to faith. You can’t measure that on a flyer. It’s Kingdom ripple effect.

“I was so resistant to religion,” she said. “But God knew exactly what it would take to reach me.”

Swan’s story is a reminder that the Holy Spirit is working far beyond the walls of any event venue.

“God used that one moment—my mum attending the tour—to draw in our entire family. And now, we’re living for Him. It’s not just one changed life,” said Swan. “It’s generations changed.”

‘We Are Not Post-Christian; We Are Pre-Revival’

Unity is also being rekindled across denominational lines.

“Scotland can be tribal, even in the church,” Brackenridge said honestly. “But something like the God Loves You Tour removes that. It puts Jesus at the centre. You couldn’t fill the Hydro Arena alone. But when churches unite under one banner, it becomes possible.”

Debbie Ford witnessed the same spirit of unity in London.

“There were pastors in that room I never thought would show up,” said Ford. “Some had been openly critical before. But they came. God is waking up the church in London. Revival is coming.”

She continued, “We are not post-Christian; we are pre-revival. God has not finished with the U.K. He’s only just beginning.”

Debbie Ford took the Christian Life and Witness Course at her church in London to build confidence and learn practical ways to share her faith.

‘Linking Arms With the Wider Body of Christ’

At Pursuit of Worship—a series of worship events for young people that took place ahead of the God Loves You Tour—dozens of youth groups from various churches gathered in worship and prayer for one mission: to live unashamedly for Christ.

Green attended six of these Pursuit outreaches.

“Among the uniqueness of each night, there was one common thread: a mass response to the Gospel message,” said Green. “Each time an invitation was given, large numbers of young people said yes to following Jesus. Groups ranged from those familiar with church to others who had previously never been—and everything in between.”

Naomi Joy and Timothy Ndahiro, youth leaders at New Hope Community Church in Cardiff, Wales, brought a group to Pursuit.

“Some of our young people got saved at past God Loves You Tour events,” Naomi explained. “We’ve seen whole households come to Christ. This is the kind of environment we want them in—where Jesus is at the centre and lives are changed.”

Naomi Joy and Timothy Ndahiro—soon to be married—serve as youth leaders in Wales and have seen some of the young people in their group become bolder in defending God’s Word.

Timothy added, “Partnering with BGEA isn’t just about working with an organisation. It’s about linking arms with the wider body of Christ. That’s what makes this special.”

They’ve seen the cultural pressure young people face in their schools and communities.  But they’ve also seen a holy boldness rising up. “Some of our youth have stood up and said, ‘This isn’t what the Bible teaches,’ even when it costs them,” Naomi said. “We’re proud of them. They’re standing firm.”

As youth leaders, the couple believe that events like Pursuit are the result of God’s faithfulness—and His people fervently praying.

“Our prayer is that God would raise up a generation who walk in righteousness and holiness, a generation set apart for Him” Naomi added. “When we see them worshipping together like at the Pursuit of Worship, it’s a glimpse of answered prayer.”

Judah was recently baptised, and he said everything has changed since surrendering his life to Christ.

For 16-year-old Judah, a young believer from Elim Church in Glasgow, these outreaches have marked key moments in his walk with God. Last year, Judah attended a Pursuit event at the church his parents attend.

“When I gave my life to Jesus, everything changed,” he explained. “Worship is when I feel closest to Him. Its where I surrender everything.”

‘I Don’t Want to Live for Anything Else’

Judah has not only grown in his faith, but become bold in his identity as a believer.

“I invited my best friend to church. Hes an atheist, but he came. Even if he didnt respond, just being in the building matters. It plants a seed.”

During his second Pursuit event, Judah reflected on the impact that the God Loves You Tour continues to have in his walk with Christ. “Every time I come to these events, I feel the Holy Spirit meet me again,” Judah said. “It’s a reminder that no matter what I’ve done, God is still calling me closer. I don’t want to live for anything else.”

The effects of the God Loves You Tour aren’t just felt in one weekend or one venue. They’re seen in the spiritual shift of entire families and communities, all pointing to the truth that God is at work. He’s still strengthening churches, creating disciples, and calling the prodigals home.

“When I walked into Home Church, I didnt know what to expect,” Swan said. “But I felt safe. I felt loved. And I found Jesus. If I had to go searching across different churches, I probably never would have [done it]. But God brought the right church at the right time. He knew.”

From London to Glasgow, from pastors to teenagers, the answer is the same: Jesus is changing lives. And through the God Loves You Tour, the church is rising in unity, faith, and purpose to proclaim it.

“Keep praying,” said Green. “Strengthen our faith to continue believing for this kind of thing. And move forward in preaching the Gospel with greater boldness. God is with us!”

Franklin Graham will return to London on June 21 for another God Loves You Tour outreach. Please pray that many who don’t have a relationship with Christ will recognise their need for Him. Ask God to strengthen local churches as they help new believers grow in their faith.
