Dear Friend,

It seems like so much has happened since God called my father home five years ago this month. Through your support and prayers, the Lord continues to work in powerful ways through this ministry to call countless people to Himself.

As I look back on his life, I’m reminded of God’s faithfulness—and I’m grateful for your partnership “side by side with me in the gospel together” (Philippians 4:3, ESV).

This month, we’re honouring his legacy of Gospel ministry through a US airing of our TV programme Billy Graham: An Extraordinary Journey, and a special daylong celebration at the Billy Graham Library. Will you join me in praying that many people will hear the Gospel through these efforts?

As I write, I’m preparing to preach in Mexico City, where tens of thousands of believers have already attended Christian Life and Witness Courses to learn how they can share their faith with others. An amazing number of buses are already booked to take people to the Festival services! Then in March, we will be going across the globe to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, for a Festival that has been postponed for years because of COVID-19. I’m so thankful God has opened the door for me to preach the Gospel there.

As we look ahead to the spring, I’m grateful that the Lord has allowed for another God Loves You Tour to take place in the United States—during the Tidewater Tour, I’ll be preaching in in Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. Will you pray for people in each of the communities on the tour, that God would open hearts and minds to the Gospel message?

Thank you again for your partnership in sharing God’s love with people who are far from Him. As we move in to an especially busy season of ministry over the next few months, I’m deeply grateful for your prayers.

May He richly bless you,

Sincerely,

Franklin Graham
President

UKRAINE: BILLY GRAHAM RAPID RESPONSE TEAM

Almost 12 months have passed since the conflict in Ukraine began. Millions of men, women, and children have seen their lives turned upside down and their homes shattered. The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) has been serving in Ukraine, extending the hope and peace of Christ to those in desperate need of it.

Since the war began, over 300 Ukrainians have received God’s Hope in Crisis training through BG-RRT, learning how to support those in grief and trauma. Vitaly Tkachuk, 37, is one of them.

Vitaly was a business owner before the war. He lived in the suburbs of Kviv with his wife and two children. When conflict broke out, Vitaly moved his family east, away from danger. After ensuring his family’s safety, Vitaly found himself in a displaced person’s centre in a church basement. That’s where he received BG-RRT’s God’s Hope in Crisis training and applied to become
a chaplain.

Since then, Vitaly has been serving as a chaplain coordinator. He’s been able to minister and support many heartbroken Ukrainians, like Petro.*

Petro’s whole world had plummeted because of the conflict. He told Vitaly how his granddaughter was killed after a building she was in collapsed. His son-in-law was killed by a gunshot, and his daughter was critically injured in an air raid. Her location is still unknown to Petro.

Heartache after heartache, Petro, who was divorced, had lost sight of hope. He was overcome by such sorrow that he was planning to end his own life.

“He could see no reason to live,” Vitaly recalled. “Everything had gone and he couldn’t see any future for himself or the nation.”

“There was only one way to save his physical and spiritual life,” Vitaly said, “and that was through Jesus. I could offer nothing more.”

After hearing about the everlasting hope of Jesus Christ, Petro responded to the Gospel message and received Christ as his Lord.

Petro is now working on rebuilding his life and looking for work in a recently liberated area of the country.

There are currently 67 chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team in Ukraine. Many are serving in Samaritan’s Purse Emergency Field Hospitals and their local communities, offering emotional and spiritual care to the wounded.

Last month in London, hundreds of Ukrainian men, women, and children celebrated Jesus Christ and the new year at an event hosted by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse.

A Ukrainian New Year, held in Westminster Chapel, included carols, a nativity puppet show, a message of hope, and performances from Ukrainian musical artists including Kristina Zaharia.

Over 300 Ukrainians gathered in London to enjoy live music, Ukrainian food, and a message of hope in their own language.
Many families had been stripped of a sense of normality after fleeing their country last year. “At the event, Ukrainians were able to experience unity and solidarity as they gathered for a service in their own language,” Nigel Fawcett-Jones, manager of BG-RRT UK said. “They were able to have a sense of togetherness despite the challenges of being away from home, separated from family, and grieving for their nation at war.”

A team of chaplains were present at the event, ready to offer prayer and a listening ear. Towards the end of the service, many Ukrainians were moved during the minute of silence. “Some were tearful as they reflected on the challenge that they had faced over the past year. Even without a translator, chaplains were able to communicate the love Christ has for the broken-hearted, whether it was through a smile, embrace, or a prayer,” Fawcett-Jones added.
