Igniting a Gospel Fire in Europe’s Darkness
Dear Friend,
In just a few short weeks, we are convening the European Congress on Evangelism in Berlin, Germany. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to host pastors, evangelists, and Christian leaders for this time of Biblical teaching and fellowship. The congress isn’t just timely—it is urgently needed. The Gospel—and the truth of God’s Word—is under attack in Western Europe. According to a recent report, an increasing number of Christians are facing outright hostility and oppression simply for living out their faith in Jesus Christ. Last year, believers were fined, interrogated, and even prosecuted for praying in public—even silently.
In the United Kingdom, where I will preach in June, more than half of Christians surveyed said they experienced hostility and ridicule when they talked openly about Jesus Christ. Although these statistics may surprise us, they shouldn’t. Jesus promised us, “I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you” (John 15:19, NKJV). It’s my prayer that the European Congress will strengthen and embolden these leaders, and thousands of others, in fearlessly proclaiming the Gospel. I’m excited for the many speakers who will join me to share Biblical truth during the congress. Skip Heitzig, Greg Laurie, Albert Mohler, my son Will, and many others will offer powerful messages from God’s Word on topics, including the role of prayer in evangelism, the importance of the Gospel invitation, the uniqueness of Jesus Christ, and practical discipleship principles.
Please pray that the congress will be a launching pad for the eternally important task of preaching the only truth that saves souls from Hell and brings the peace that passes all understanding. If the Lord leads you, will you help sponsor a leader to attend? It costs £720 to bring and host one pastor or evangelist. After the congress ends, I will be preaching in London for our God Loves You Tour. God has opened the door for me to share the Gospel in the United Kingdom every year since the pandemic ended. We give God all the glory for the thousands of people who have made life-changing decisions for the Lord in the past four years—but there is still so much spiritual need.
You are helping make all of this Gospel ministry possible, and I am so grateful for you. Thank you for your prayers, your partnership, and your heart for evangelism.
May God richly bless you,
Franklin Graham
President & CEO
With less than six weeks and a few key events remaining before the God Loves You Tour event in London this June, anticipation is rising as we prepare for God to call people to Himself. Since the beginning of the year, hundreds of believers across the United Kingdom have faithfully prepared the ground through Christian Life and Witness Courses, Pursuit of Worship events for youth, and new believer follow-up trainings.
Last year, during the God Loves You Tour in Birmingham, the power of the Gospel message touched not only the thousands who came intentionally, but also those who hadn’t expected to encounter God at all. One of them was Alastair.* The 27-year-old Resorts World staff member was working at the venue on the night of the event. Though he had grown up in a religious home, he had never made a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ.
That night, as Franklin Graham shared the message of salvation, Alastair heard words that changed his life: “God loves you,” Graham said. “But you are separated because of your sins. If you come to Him tonight, He’ll forgive you, He’ll cleanse you, and you can have a new beginning.” And that’s exactly what Alastair did as he surrendered his life to the Lord in repentance and faith. “He had clearly been moved by the Spirit,” shared Lily, a Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplain who spoke with him afterwards. “It was a really beautiful moment. And to know that he’ll go back and share with his parents that he’s given his life to the Lord … that’s really special.” The chaplains gave Alastair discipleship materials that included a New Testament and got him to fill out a follow-up form so that he could get connected with
a local church. That night, over 600 others publicly responded to the invitation to follow Jesus Christ. A week later, more than 520 people in Glasgow, Scotland, also placed their trust in Him after hearing the Gospel message. Since then, hundreds of those new believers have been welcomed into local churches, where they are being discipled and nurtured in their walk with Christ. As we look ahead to our London event this June, please pray for those yet to come, that hearts would be open to the Gospel and lives ready for transformation. It’s not too late to join us in making an eternal impact. Your prayers, presence, and partnership could help bring someone like Alastair to a moment of eternal decision.
Bold Faith, Fresh Worship: Reaching The Next Generation
This month, hundreds of young people came together for 12 Pursuit of Worship nights across England and Wales. These free events gave youth and students the opportunity to bring friends far from Jesus Christ to hear the Gospel, as well as enjoy a night of worship and inspiration. Many young people responded by committing their lives to Jesus. Cherish travelled from Cardiff to Newport with her siblings to attend alongside well over 100 others. As Phil King and Steve Tebb each led the
young people in a powerful time of worship, many dropped to their knees in reverence to God. But for 18-year-old Cherish, it was inspiration from speakers such as Reuben Morley, Festival director at the
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, that left a lasting impression.
“I think the biggest thing that impacted me tonight is how much zeal and passion there is about Jesus,” Cherish said. “Watching Virginnia [Logan] and Reuben on stage … wow! I can’t wait to be in that position to testify of God’s goodness with such a passion.”
Attendees were encouraged to step out boldly in faith and reach the world for Jesus. “God has a habit
of qualifying the called instead of calling the qualified,” shared Reuben at the Newport event. “He’s chosen you with the task of reaching your world with the Gospel!” “I think it’s really important that young people are bold in their faith, because, knowing what God has done in my life, why would I want to keep that a secret?” Cherish said after the event. “I want to be
able to show people that, even though this world is dark, there is still saving grace.” Cherish, and many of the other young people at the Pursuit of Worship nights, will be among the thousands attending the God Loves You Tour. Please join us in praying that many of them will bring their friends who don’t know the Lord.
