Gallery: Chaplains minister after severe flooding in Wales

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) are ministering to the community of Pontypridd in South Wales after being hit by severe flooding.
Thousands of homes have been flooded across Wales as a result of winter storms Ciara and Dennis. Unprecedented rainfall have flooded communities across the country – homes have been destroyed and there are still villages submerged in water.
Crisis-trained chaplains will be present amongst the community of Pontypridd, offering emotional and spiritual support to those affected.
“Our chaplain teams are hard at work supporting the response of the local church here in Pontypridd, Wales,” said Nigel Fawcett-Jones, RRT coordinator for the UK. “We can’t comprehend the emotional challenge the local residents are enduring right now as the flood waters continue to rise but we are blessed to have the opportunity to support them and show the love of Christ during this time of crisis.”
A team of seven chaplains arrived in Pontypridd last month – they are currently ministering in one of the worst-hit areas in the country.
Water levels reached up to over 200cm (over 6ft) in some areas of Wales, leaving families trapped in the first-floor levels of their homes.
Aside from emotional and spiritual support, BG-RRT chaplains are also providing practical support to the community. From cleaning houses, clearing gardens of debris, or simply offering a helping hand – chaplains are sharing the love of Christ through acts of kindness in a struggling community.
BG-RRT chaplains have also prayed with dozens in the community including families and even emergency response volunteers.
Whether it’s by taking the time to listen to a person’s story, or cleaning their garden, to offering a time for prayer; chaplains are present to spread the light and comfort of Christ in a community that’s been overwhelmed by a crisis. Support the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team here.
