Franklin Graham Shares Burden for Youth Ahead of Brussels Festival

Franklin Graham shared with local media why the Gospel is so urgent—and his hope for all to embrace the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Reporters from several media outlets sat down with Franklin Graham in Brussels Friday morning ahead of Saturday’s Festival of Hope in Belgium’s capital.

It’s been 50 years since Billy Graham was in the same city for a youth evangelism conference called EuroFest, and Franklin Graham shared his father’s concern for the nation’s youth. Young adults make up the largest age group in Brussels.

“So many young people in Europe are searching for purpose in life,” he shared with reporters. “They try sexual experiences and drugs and alcohol looking for God and they’re not finding God.

“I want young people to know that God made them, He’s real, He loves them, He cares for them, and He’s got a plan for how we can have a relationship with Him.”

Over 600 churches across Belgium have come together to pray and prepare for the Festival, bringing unprecedented unity to this area often divided by languages and denominational differences.

The event will be interpreted into seven languages—including French, Flemish, Slovak, and Portuguese—inviting people in their own tongue to come to their Heavenly Father.

“It’s important for the churches to hear and to see people standing to their feet, coming forward, confessing their sins, repenting of their sins, and inviting Christ into their hearts to know Him,” Franklin Graham said. “This will strengthen the church.”

In the city known as “the heart of Europe,” he said he hopes the ripples of repentance will reach across the rest of the continent.

“We have to turn from our sins. We cannot come to God and continue to live in our sins,” he added. “It’s a privilege to be able to come and to share this message.”

Do you know someone who’s far from God?

Will you ask God to open hearts to the Good News and draw many to faith in Jesus Christ during this outreach?

Local believers have been inviting people to the Festival of Hope and putting up posters to make sure others know about this free event.
