At least 221 people were killed Tuesday when the roof of a popular nightclub collapsed in the capital city of Santo Domingo.
Hundreds were gathered for a concert when the roof of Jet Set nightclub suddenly caved in, trapping people in dust and debris and injuring more than 200.
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is ministering to the shocked community following the tragedy that has rocked the nation. A number of prominent names were added to the list of the deceased—including the merengue singer concertgoers were there to see.
“The loss of life that we have seen in this incident is devastating,” said Josh Holland, international director of BG-RRT. “Many people will ask the question, ‘Why?’ No matter how dark and hopeless the situation may seem, we can find hope and light through Jesus Christ. That is the message the chaplains are sharing with the families and survivors today.”
Spanish-speaking chaplains will also attend a prayer vigil on Sunday to comfort and minister to grieving families.
Please join us in praying for those who lost loved ones, for the wounded, and for chaplains offering a listening ear.
