“What would you say is the biggest problem our nation needs to solve today? I think it’s drugs (especially now that pot is being legalized in so many places), but my husband thinks it’s the economy. What would you say?”
“I know you believe the Bible is God’s Word, but can you prove it? I haven’t read the Bible much, but all it talks about are things that happened thousands of years ago, and that doesn’t seem very important to me.”
“How can I find out about your religion? My family and I came here from another country and we grew up with another religion, but inside I have many doubts and fears. I would ask some of the people I work with, but they don’t seem very religious. This disappoints me, because I thought this was a Christian nation.”
“I’ve always assumed I’d go to heaven when I died, but I had some serious heart problems recently and now I’m wondering if I’m right. I’ve always gone to church and tried to be a good person, but now I’m not sure if I’ve been good enough. How can I know?”
“Is it wrong to want to be famous? I’m 15, and I’d love to be a well-known celebrity like some of the people I see on TV. I’ve even dreamed about moving to Hollywood when I’m older. ”
“Our family has some very serious financial needs, but I grew up thinking we aren’t supposed to pray about problems like this, because they’re selfish, and God doesn’t answer self-centered prayers. Am I wrong?”
“My husband and I were in our teens when we got married, and it lasted less than a year. Now several years have gone by and we’re seeing each other again. Would it be wrong for us to remarry? Does the Bible say this is wrong?”
“How can you help someone who really needs help, but doesn’t want it? It’s becoming more and more obvious that my uncle has become an alcoholic, but he just gets angry if anyone says something to him about it. What can I do?”
“What good does it do to pray for someone who’s facing a serious health crisis? They’ll either get better or they won’t, depending on how they respond to their medications or surgery. Just because we pray for someone doesn’t mean they’ll get better, in my opinion. ”
“I know this isn’t unusual, but my husband doesn’t have any interest in church. He doesn’t mind if the children and I go, but he refuses to come with us. How can I explain this to them, without sounding like I’m tearing down their father?”
“My husband travels a lot, and last year he finally admitted he had a girlfriend in another city. At first, he said that if I didn’t like it I could just leave, but now he’s moved out and says he’s filing for divorce and then marrying her. Have you ever seen a marriage like ours be saved? I’m an emotional wreck.”
“Are the Ten Commandments found in the Bible, or did some church make them up? I’ve heard of them all my life, but I don’t come from a religious family so I’ve never had an opportunity to study them. Are they still important?”
