Why does God allow suffering in the world?

“A friend of mine laughs at me whenever I say something about the Bible, because he says you can use the Bible to prove anything you want to. How can I convince him that the Bible is true, and he needs to give his life to Jesus?”
“I listened to you on television when I was a teenager because my parents made me, but I didn't want anything to do with God. Now, 30 years later, I realize I've paid a terrible price for this. I should've stopped to see where I was headed. I wish I could live my life over again, but you can't go back.”
“I moved to a totally different part of the country about six months ago. I needed to get away from some things that were hassling me and it sounded like a peaceful place. But it isn't as perfect as I thought it would be and my problems seem to have followed me. What advice would you give me?”
“I’m single and pregnant and don’t know what to do. My boyfriend abandoned me when he found out I was pregnant, and I’ve never gotten along very well with my parents. I’ll probably get an abortion, although I don’t want to. Pray I’ll do the right thing.”
“My aunt keeps sending me books and pamphlets about the religious group she belongs to. She's kind of fanatical about it, although my mom says it's a cult, and she's probably right. How can I politely tell her not to keep after me, and yet not offend her?”
“How can we decide whether or not to change churches? Our church has some good people in it, but we're not sure we like some of the programs, and we're also not sure we agree with some of the things the denomination stands for.”
“We saw a program about Jesus the other night on television (it was sort of a documentary). It was interesting but it seemed to cast doubt on some of the things we've always believed. Some of the scholars they interviewed even claimed that the Bible's accounts about Jesus are wrong. Are they right?”
“Does God still expect us to keep the Ten Commandments? Aren't they a bit out of date, since they're thousands of years old and the world is so much different today?”
“Is it wrong to question God when things don't go the way I think they should? I really do believe in God, but sometimes it's hard for me to understand why He lets some things happen. Do I make God mad when I question Him?”
“Our daughter is about to make a stupid decision about getting married, and we don't know what to do. Her boyfriend is selfish and lazy and just using her, but she's very headstrong and refuses to listen to us. What can we say to her to make her wake up?”
“What does the Bible mean when it says that the devil believes in God? Isn't that what we're supposed to do before we can go to heaven? But the devil's not going to heaven, is he?”
