“How can I know if I'm really a Christian? I honestly believe I gave my life to Jesus a few months ago after one of your telecasts, but I'm not a very emotional person and I don't really feel any different. Have I been deceiving myself or something?”
“I'm one of those "baby boomers" you read about who's almost 60, and I have to admit I don't like it. Not only do I not like growing older, but suddenly I realize my wife and I have been having a good time instead of saving enough for retirement. I don't have a question, I guess, but I find all this kind of sobering.”
“How do you know the Bible is true? After all, the people who wrote it could have just been making it up. I know you won't agree with me, but I can't see why we ought to believe the Bible any more than we do any other ancient book.”
“Why didn't someone tell me how hard it is being a parent? We have three children, and it seems like all I do all day long is try to keep them from fighting. Will it ever get any better?”
“I know this sounds strange, but I have an aunt who cares more for her dogs and cats than she does for her family, or at least that's the way it seems to most of us. What would you say to someone like that?”
“Why do some people have an easy life although they don't have anything to do with God, while others who believe in God and try to do what's right have a hard time of it? Why is evil so strong? I don't understand why God allows it.”
“What do you think is the greatest social problem in the world today? Some friends and I were talking about this recently, but we didn’t come to any agreement. Whatever it is, do you think churches should be doing anything about it, or is it best left to governments?”
“I know we're supposed to forgive people who hurt us, but why bother? After all, it doesn't change what they've done to us, and it doesn't change them, either. I've been very hurt because of something my brother-in-law did to us, and there's no way I could ever forgive him.”
“My husband and I come from different church backgrounds, and every time we've moved we've had trouble agreeing on a church we both liked. Now we're moving to a new city, and we're facing the same problem all over again. What advice would you have for us?”
“I saw one of those "infomercials" the other night on TV about someone who claimed to be able to talk to people who lived a long time ago and can give us guidance about our lives. Do you think that's possible? I admit I was tempted to call the number to see what she'd say.”
“I want to serve God, but we have five children and lots of debts. I don't see how I could ever be a pastor or go to seminary or anything like that. Do I just lack faith that God will provide for us? I don't think so, but sometimes I wonder if I'm on the right path.”
