“My husband and I had some issues with the church we both grew up in, and last year we finally stopped going. Now, I feel our faith is slipping away, but I don't know how to stop it. I know you'll probably tell us to go back to our church, but we've burned our bridges there. Any suggestions?”
“I read in the newspaper recently that you and your son had visited New Orleans and seen some of the hurricane damage. What were your impressions? Is it as bad as we keep hearing?”
“I have prayed and prayed for God to help us get out of debt somehow and bless us with more money, but He doesn't do anything. I hate living like this. Why doesn't God do something? Is He punishing us?”
“I don't have any use for preachers and evangelists. I grew up in a church, and the only thing preachers are interested in is money. I don't see how anyone can believe what they preach. I feel sorry for all the people they mislead. I'll bet this is one letter you won't bother to answer.”
“I've struggled with alcohol most of my life, and it's only been since I gave my life to Jesus about a year ago that I've finally gotten on top of it. But I don't go to church much, because church people don't understand me and I know I don't fit in. Can you understand my feelings?”
“Is it true that you aren't really saved unless you know the exact date you gave your life to Jesus? This worries me, because I'm not sure I really know when I "crossed the line" and became a Christian, because I was very young. But I do believe in Jesus and am trusting Him for my salvation.”
“My fiancé and I are getting married next month, and I wonder if you have any advice to give us. We've gotten lots of advice from people, but I'm not sure how much of it is right, and we'd like to hear what you have to say. By the way, how long have you been married?”
“Our children are all grown up and gone, so what do you think Mother's Day should mean to us now? It's nice to feel special and get some Mother's Day cards, but should it be anything more?”
“Do you think the day will ever come when we won't need missionaries or evangelists anymore, because their work will be done by things like television and the Internet? I guess I'm kind of "tech crazy," but it looks to me like technology now makes it possible to preach the Gospel everywhere.”
“I know you won’t get this until after Easter, but which do you think was worse for Jesus, His physical suffering or His emotional and mental suffering? I tend to think the latter, because rejection is a terrible thing to bear, and He must have been very hurt when everyone turned against Him.”
“I found out the other day that a friend of mine who isn’t married is having a baby in a few months. My problem is, I don’t know how to react to this, because as a Christian I don’t agree with what she’s done. I hate to cut her off, however. What is your recommendation?”
“I know I shouldn't fear death now that I'm a Christian, but I do. I've always been very fearful of death, maybe because several people who were close to me died when I was a child. I thought this would change once I committed my life to Jesus, but it hasn't. Am I always going to be like this?”
