“I feel bad because I just found out that a family down the street has been having a lot of problems recently (the wife had a serious operation), and no one in the neighborhood even knew it. As a Christian, I feel I ought to help them, but I don’t want to be nosey or intrude on their privacy.”
“My sister says I need to turn to Jesus because He’ll solve all my problems. But how can He? Will they just all vanish if I turn to Jesus? I’ve got so many problems I don’t see how anyone can solve them, even God.”
“If God hates sin, then He must hate me a whole lot because I’ve done just about everything bad you can imagine. I even got involved in a Satan-worshipping cult for a time (although I got scared and left). What hope is there for someone like me?”
“We are very concerned about our son, because it looks to us like college has turned him away from God. When he came home for Christmas, he admitted he doesn't go to church now and even wonders if God is a myth. Have we failed as parents to give him a strong faith?”
“My grandmother gave me a Bible for Christmas, and I know she hopes I'll start reading it like she does. But I never realized how big the Bible is. Where should I start? I'm in high school, and I don't have a lot of extra time.”
“Our son is active in our church's youth group, and last week they announced they are going on a summer mission trip to help build houses in another country. He really wants to go, but we're very nervous about it because it's a fairly primitive place, from what I hear. Should we let him go?”
“My husband and I got married a year ago. We both have children from our previous marriages, and to be honest, they’re about to drive us crazy. The two groups don’t get along, and sometimes I wonder if it would be better for us just to split up. What would you say?”
“I've always been fascinated by angels, and I have lots of angel figurines around the house to protect me. But I admit I don't know much about them. When did God create the angels? Or have they always existed? How much influence do they have over our lives?”
“If I die with just one sin in my heart that I haven’t confessed, will God refuse to let me into heaven? I grew up thinking this, and the older I get the more I worry about it because I don’t want to miss heaven.”
“Did you read the story about a man who claims to be God, and says he is the successor to Jesus? He seems to be very sincere about it, and he's managed to convince his followers also. Could he be right?”
“When I think of heaven I don't think of nice scenery or people worshiping God or things like that. I think life as we know it will end and we'll be absorbed into God—kind of like a grain of salt being absorbed into the ocean. But my Christian friend says I'm wrong. How can he be so sure?”
“My wife and I are in a dilemma. We've been urging our kids to avoid drugs, but the other day an old friend showed up and let it slip that we'd all experimented with drugs when we were in college. I guess it's kind of funny in a way, but have we lost our right to speak to them about drugs?”
