“We are very concerned about our son, because it looks to us like college has turned him away from God. When he came home for Christmas, he admitted he doesn't go to church now and even wonders if God is a myth. Have we failed as parents to give him a strong faith?”
“My grandmother gave me a Bible for Christmas, and I know she hopes I'll start reading it like she does. But I never realized how big the Bible is. Where should I start? I'm in high school, and I don't have a lot of extra time.”
“Our son is active in our church's youth group, and last week they announced they are going on a summer mission trip to help build houses in another country. He really wants to go, but we're very nervous about it because it's a fairly primitive place, from what I hear. Should we let him go?”
“My husband and I got married a year ago. We both have children from our previous marriages, and to be honest, they’re about to drive us crazy. The two groups don’t get along, and sometimes I wonder if it would be better for us just to split up. What would you say?”
“I've always been fascinated by angels, and I have lots of angel figurines around the house to protect me. But I admit I don't know much about them. When did God create the angels? Or have they always existed? How much influence do they have over our lives?”
“If I die with just one sin in my heart that I haven’t confessed, will God refuse to let me into heaven? I grew up thinking this, and the older I get the more I worry about it because I don’t want to miss heaven.”
“Did you read the story about a man who claims to be God, and says he is the successor to Jesus? He seems to be very sincere about it, and he's managed to convince his followers also. Could he be right?”
“When I think of heaven I don't think of nice scenery or people worshiping God or things like that. I think life as we know it will end and we'll be absorbed into God—kind of like a grain of salt being absorbed into the ocean. But my Christian friend says I'm wrong. How can he be so sure?”
“My wife and I are in a dilemma. We've been urging our kids to avoid drugs, but the other day an old friend showed up and let it slip that we'd all experimented with drugs when we were in college. I guess it's kind of funny in a way, but have we lost our right to speak to them about drugs?”
“I am a policeman and a Christian, and I have to admit I get discouraged sometimes because it doesn't seem like I'm doing much good. The crime rate (especially drugs) is just as bad in our community as it was when I started 10 years ago. My wife says maybe I ought to do something else. Should I?”
“I had a lot of problems when I was growing up, and recently I've been seeing a counselor to try to understand myself. But when I told her that my faith is very important to me, she said I needed to forget God and face my problems on my own. Is she right?”
“Did God know the human race was going to end up fighting and killing each other and so forth? If so, why did He bother to make us? Or why didn't He create us so we'd be perfect and wouldn't behave this way?”
