2024: The Year in Pictures

Join us in looking back at how God used this ministry to share the hope of Christ worldwide this Year.

January 2024

In January, The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association hosted an event for church leaders ahead of the God Loves You Tour Event in June 2024.
In Mexico, more than 30,000 people were trained to share their faith in preparation for the Festival of Hope Mexico City. From worship sessions to evangelism trainings and youth and children’s events, all of them seek to glorify the Name of Jesus Christ and encourage believers to invite others to meet Him.

70th Anniversary of Billy Graham’s First London Crusade

“In the next five years I am convinced that Britain is going to have a spiritual awakening such as you have not had since Wesley.” – Billy Graham’s first address of the London Crusade, 1st March 1954.

In February we celebrated the 70th anniversary of Billy Graham’s first crusade in London. The impact of Billy Graham’s ministry across those three months lit a fire in the heart of Britain that can be described as nothing short of revival: thousands made decisions for Christ, streets filled with people queuing up to hear the Gospel, religion became front page news for the first time in a generation, half a million people tuned in on landlines to hear the Word of God preached, and church congregations doubled in size.

Vibrant and lively, Mexico City is home to millions of people—many of whom have not yet experienced the lasting peace found through a relationship with God’s Son, Jesus Christ. At the first night of the Esperanza Festival of Hope with Franklin Graham in Mexico City on Feb. 17, 23,000 people heard this Good News, and over 2,000 committed their lives to Jesus Christ.

Local churches in Mexico City  worked tirelessly over the past year, sharing the Gospel and inviting people to Esperanza CDMX Festival with Franklin Graham.

March 2024

Franklin Graham delivered a message of hope from Jerusalem that aired on Easter Sunday on Fox News and on TBN, local TV stations in select markets, and online.

On Sunday, March 31, Franklin Graham  shared a message from Israel about the victory we have in our risen Saviour.

The half-hour program was broadcasted on Fox News and on TBN, local TV stations in select markets, and online. The special was filmed in Jerusalem outside the garden tomb many believe held Jesus’ body after His crucifixion.

A gaping space remains where the Francis Scott Key Bridge—an iconic 1.6 mile stretch of Baltimore skyline—once stood. Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains ministered in Maryland—sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) deployed to Baltimore, US after a 984-foot cargo ship lost power and rammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26.

Levelling the bridge and sending eight construction workers into the frigid Patapsco River, the tragic event left four people presumed dead, with authorities recovering the bodies of two men.

Franklin Graham and his interpreter, BGEA Spanish-speaking evangelist David Ruíz, connect with the crowd in El Paso, Texas. Moments later, they led more than 700 in a bilingual prayer to follow Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

On a warm Sunday afternoon in March, a crowd of over 7,000 people packed the Don Haskins Centre at the University of Texas at El Paso for the seventh stop of the God Loves You Frontera Tour.

Some were curious and wanted to hear more about Jesus Christ. Some were invited by friends or family members—and they came unsure of what they would experience.

But regardless of their expectations, all of them heard truth and hope as Franklin Graham proclaimed that God offers His love and forgiveness freely through His Son Jesus Christ.

April 2024

“My friends, Jesus came to save you from eternal separation from God,” Will Graham explained to the crowd of over 6,000 who eagerly filed into Super Bock Arena for Friday’s Celebration of Hope.

On April 25, bright red flowers could be seen nearly everywhere in Porto, Portugal, as people remembered the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, a peaceful coup that freed the country from dictatorship. The next evening, Will Graham addressed a crowd of over 6,000 people gathered for the Celebration of Hope in Porto’s Super Bock Arena.

After hearing how to have a personal relationship with God, more than 700 people surrendered their hearts to Jesus Christ at the God Loves You Tour (Bóg Ci? Kocha Tour) in Poland. More than 5,000 others watched around the world online.

Franklin Graham preached from Luke 15, about the prodigal son running from his father, only to return later and ask for forgiveness. His father was overjoyed and immediately forgave his son, just as God does for those who come to Him.

“He will come into your heart and life if you invite Him,” he told the packed arena, “but you have to confess your sins, repent, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Altogether, more than 13,000 people heard the Good News of Jesus Christ—with many arriving on nearly 200 chartered buses from all over Poland.

After a deadly sword attack killed a 14-year-old boy and injured four others on 30 April, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) deployed four crisis-trained chaplains to Hainault, London, to minister to this hurting community.
Ahead of the God Loves You Tour in Birmingham and Glasgow in June 2024, youths in Leicester, Birmingham and Wolverhampton, were hosted by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association organising a series of Pursuit of Worship nights across the weekend of 19-21st April.

A 7-foot bronze statue of Billy Graham was officially installed at National Statuary Hall in Washington, D.C. The base of the statue is inscribed with two verses: John 14:6 and John 3:16.

Those who knew the humble evangelist would freely admit that he would be the last to want a statue of his likeness anywhere. “My father would be a little uncomfortable with this being here,” said Franklin Graham, who read John 3:16, one of the two verses inscribed on the statue’s base. “Because he would want the focus to be on the One whom he preached—the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.”

The Billy Graham statue is a 7-foot bronze sculpture by North Carolina artist Chas Fagan.

June 2024

Groups of people assembled in front of the Resorts World arena in Birmingham ahead of the God Loves You Tour Event
God is working in people’s hearts throughout the UK—and the world. Please pray for new believers in and around Birmingham.

“Maybe you are here tonight and you have all the things that you wanted in life, but deep down inside something is missing,” Graham said to the crowd in Resorts World Arena. “We all have a void that can only be filled by God Himself through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.”

At the beginning of the evening, kilt-clad bagpipers played “Amazing Grace” as many in the crowd enthusiastically sang out the well-known hymn about the sweetness of salvation.

In June,  people from many different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs, received lasting hope and joy that can only come through knowing Jesus Christ. More than 500 responded to the Gospel in Glasgow, Scotland.

Years ago, the city’s slogan was “Let Glasgow Flourish”—based on the famous prayer, “Lord, let Glasgow flourish through the preaching of Thy word and praising Thy name.” The motto has since been changed to “People Make Glasgow.” Hundreds of churches around the country have been praying for revival in Scotland for months ahead of the God Loves You Tour—asking the Lord to turn the nation back to Him.

In 2020, the God Loves You Tour was postponed after seven UK venues cancelled their contracts with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. But the Good News was finally preached in Birmingham on June 15, and Glasgow on June 22. “We thank God for the answered prayer for being able to be here tonight,” Franklin Graham said. “It’s been a long time coming.”

July 2024

Founded in the aftermath of 9/11, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) provides emotional and spiritual care to individuals and communities living through an unexpected tragedy or crisis. Volunteer chaplains have ministered to thousands in the name of Jesus by listening, praying and offering practical assistance.

Monday morning (29th July 2024), a brutal knife attack killed three children aged six, seven and nine years-old, whilst they were attending a local dance class. Crisis-trained chaplains from the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team have deployed to Southport after a fatal stabbing took the lives of three girls and seriously injuring many more. This tragic event has been labelled as one of the worst assaults against children in the United Kingdom in decades.

A sea of flowers, toys, and handwritten messages were laid for the three girls who lost their lives.
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) served in Brazoria County, Texas, where Hurricane Beryl caused major damage Beryl ploughed through the Caribbean as a Category 5, dropping to a Category 1 as it reached the state’s coastline on July 8. The storm is responsible for at least 21 deaths across Texas, Louisiana, and Carriacou—an island in Grenada.

Beryl’s intense wind and rain downed cell towers, blocked roads, and decimated approximately 95% of homes and businesses in the area. More than 250,000 people were without power as temperatures increased.

August 2024

Through the Billy Graham Defence Fund, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) will provide financial resources aimed at encouraging Christians across the UK to continue sharing their faith freely and boldly, even in the face of legal and public policy challenges.

Franklin Graham was scheduled to preach the Gospel across eight UK cities back in 2020, but seven venues with signed contracts cancelled the events due to opposition.

The ministry brought legal action against these venues, with the goal of preserving the platform for Christians to proclaim the Gospel in the public square.

All legal disputes have now been resolved favourably, and BGEA received £500,000 in compensation as a result. We praise the Lord for the reminder that through trials and opposition, “victory belongs to the Lord” (Proverbs 21:31, NLT).

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is in the Gulf Coast city alongside humanitarian aid organization Samaritan’s Purse to help meet residents’ needs.

Five people died and over 500 needed rescuing after Hurricane Debby dumped over a foot of rain on Sarasota, Florida, in early August.

September 2024

In the midst of Naples’ large square lined with cafes, pizzerias, and fashion stores, Franklin Graham delivered a message of hope to Neapolitans with the help of an interpreter.

God moved in many hearts in Naples this past September as men, women, and children committed their lives to Christ. Each new believer received a Bible and other materials to help them grow their new faith in Jesus Christ.

“People are searching for happiness,” Franklin Graham preached at Saturday’s Noi Festival in Naples, Italy. “Marriage, sex, drugs … but it’s not satisfying and you’re here tonight and there’s an emptiness. There’s a vacuum inside of you that can only be filled by Almighty God.”

Naples’ Piazza del Plebiscito, one of Italy’s largest squares, was packed with more than 21,000 people on the day of the event. Many walking by the vast square stopped to listen to the music and Gospel message from Franklin Graham.

October 2024

Following Hurricane Helene, the Billy Graham Training Centre at The Cove has transformed from a peaceful retreat centre to a bustling hub for disaster relief efforts in Western North Carolina.

In October, The Billy Graham Training Centre at The Cove in Asheville, N.C., suffered minor damage in Hurricane Helene, but out of a desire to care for the surrounding community, paused ministry events. The Cove hosted law enforcement, Samaritan’s Purse disaster relief workers, and Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains so they could serve across the region.

Many Floridians were overwhelmed as they work in the heat and mud to salvage belongings and begin putting their lives back together after Hurricane Milton barrelled through with lethal force.

Hurricane Milton slammed into Florida, killing more than 20 people, flattening homes, and wreaking havoc on the coastline.

Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains ministered in Charlotte County—north of Fort Myers—reminding the hurting that there is lasting hope through Jesus Christ, no matter what’s happening around them.

November 2024

Using the account of Pontius Pilate and Barabbas in Matthew 27, Will Graham shared the Good News that Jesus took our sins to the cross and conquered the grave, offering eternal life to all who come to Him in faith and repentance. “Jesus loved us so much that He was willing to forgive us of our sin. He paid the price to let you go free. Just like He traded places with Barabbas, He’ll trade places with you if you come to Him.”

More than 9,000 people from all around Grande Prairie  attended the Look Up Celebration where Will Graham shared how they can have true and lasting peace with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Bonnetts Energy Centre in Grande Prairie, Alberta, was transformed into a place of praise, worship, and evangelism for the Grande Prairie Look Up Celebration with Will Graham. The arena is normally home to the Storm, a junior A ice hockey team, but a mosaic of tile was laid across the smooth hockey ice to accommodate the large crowd.

December 2024

Chaplains were able to pray with dozens of volunteers, staff and visitors of the National Ministry Centre.

Chaplains from the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) served alongside dozens of volunteers processing shoebox gifts at the Samaritan’s Purse National Ministry Centre in Coventry. Gordon McCann, trained chaplain from BG-RRT and who previously served as a DART member with Samaritan’s Purse, has been in the midst of the fun and excitement in the National Ministry Centre. Whether it’s packing shoeboxes, offering a listening ear, or praying for someone—Cate is ready to provide practical, emotional, spiritual care to volunteers and staff.

Franklin Graham received “a warm welcome at a luncheon in Vientiane”. “I appreciated the cultural performances, the gift of a Khene, a musical bamboo instrument that was given to me by the church, and beautiful flowers from the government,” he said.
Nearly 14,000 people heard the Good News in Laos—where Franklin Graham shared a message about the love of God during a two-day evangelistic outreach over the weekend.
“This is my first opportunity to come to this beautiful city, and we have been looking forward to this for a long time,” Franklin Graham told the crowd. Through a Vietnamese interpreter, he shared that “God’s Son, Jesus Christ, came to Earth to save sinners. He shed His blood on the cross for each and every one of us—that’s how much He loves you.”
Some 13,800 people came to Can Tho Stadium to hear the Good News at the first night of the Season of Love Festival in Southern Vietnam.
